Possible Mission:

Sounds, images, and events constantly combine in a heap of information that can overlap, support, and contradict all at the same time. I like the idea of re-arranging facts, information, and imagery to tell a new story.

My projects in painting and printmaking use digital technology to look at the figure in new ways. The models are photographed in the studio, and then "placed" in environments such as parking lots, carnivals or along the side of a road. I often construct backdrops, sets, and props using low-tech methods which are also photographed and included in the setting. The completed work is produced using traditional techniques.

My video work investigates the way ordinary things can become something else. I often combine cheap domestic materials, dolls, tacky pictures, postcards, and found, borrowed or otherwise acquired personal photos, to make work that questions standards of taste.

The video pieces are deliberately lowbrow, focusing on the outermost fringes of society, The theme and visuals are often not politically correct. I try to bring the viewer to the borderline of what is acceptable in terms of technique, content and tolerance, and then give them a shove.

Most recently I have been inventing characters to create a parallel reality; a soap-opera universe that explores the darker side of human nature, where things attract and repel at the same time, and in which clowns can get away with murder.
